My pottery business is a tiny one-person business. Pottery is not always the most eco-friendly medium but where I can and through small acts, I try to reduce my carbon footprint and my plastic usage. Here is a list of my suppliers with links to their own environmental policies. Please give the the packaging materials another life by reusing or recycling them wherever possible.

Materials: Bath Potters’ Supplies and bought second hand from potteries which have closed down or been gifted to me. Clay is fully recyclable as long as there is no contamination. All of the trimmings and off cuts from my own and my students making are recycled and eventually get turned into new pots.

Kiln firing: I only fire the kiln when it is completely full. I time the firings to heat the studio when needed and when there is less demand on hte system.

Bubble wrap and packaging chips: Freecycle - reused from my own deliveries or given to me by friends. The chips are made from potato starch and are fully compostable.

Boxes: Given to me by friends, reused from my own deliveries or I use wine boxes gotten from Waitrose. These don’t always look the prettiest but they do the job.

Business cards and postcards: Overnight Printers - A German based printers who use waterless printing techniques. They also have solar panels on the roof of the building.

Paper bags and tissue paper: Carrier Bag Shop – The bags are made from recycled brown paper and the tissue is acid free and made with water-based dyes. Both are fully recyclable.

Stamp: Get Stamped – The most eco-friendly online stamp company. The stamp is made with natural rubber and environmentally sourced oak. It is, to me, more eco-friendly than using paper stickers as it is a zero-waste option.

Ink pad: Ranger Archival Ink - Acid free and can be re-inked.

Postage: Royal Mail - They are making efforts to minimise their carbon foot print and will take care of your parcel right to your door.
